Life has been really hectic as of late. I'm planning a trip to Dallas to view an original production entitled, "Night Can Immerse". A good friend of mine is co-starring in it, so I figured I should be there to watch it all unfold. I found some cheap tickets, but these things require a lot of pre-planning. Luckily, our playhouse is taking a two week-break, so that should leave me more than enough time to get there and back.

Anyways.

In case you haven't seen it, Jason's post about underage Neurocammers, specifically the part about Monica, the undercover double-agent out to expose Neurocam International, was very thought inspiring. I find it interesting she found out about Neurocam on a post on GaiaOnline, an anime fansite. I wonder..

I'm most interested about her conclusion that Neurocam was evil. It's no secret that Neurocam Operatives do involve themselves in clandestine activities, even if they are all legal. However, would evil be an appropriate word? Is that going too far?

Because of this, I have gathered that they are bad. VERYBAD. because every normal human being across the spectrum of history has deemed anything unfamilliar and weird bad/evil/not to be trusted. So, I for my own safety am going to do the same, and start a blog like many others who have joined neurocam.

Understandably, she's only fifteen, so reason and logic may not be her best quality. It may never be. But she does raise a valid question: Would we, for the sake of advancing or remaining in Neurocam's good graces, do anything illegal or, as she so eloquently put it, VERYBAD? We don't know what Neurocam will do next. Only Neurocam does, whether that be Robert Henley, Harriet Moore or The Cult of Hamish.

So is it worth the risk? Some would say yes, and I tend to agree. In fact, what allured us all to Neurocam? The risk? More specifically, the mystery?

Just something to think about.

Beta!

So I finally got switched over to Beta.

I tested out the new template functions, and I must say, it's pretty inventive. The entire thing allows flexibility in blog layout and functions without requiring much of any HTML knowledge. I'm not much of a techhead, so this made me happy.

The only thing I kind of wanted was flexibility in template choices. The new customizer only works with pre-made templates; any other html formatting won't read. Oh well, for a free service, it's looking very good.

For more information, see the Blogger Buzz posts.

Welcome to Neurocam.

I'm an operative now!

Dear Operative Eli,

Please allow me to introduce myself. If you have any questions, please let me know.

--

4:00 PM. The alarm on my cell phone causes it to vibrate in my pocket, reminding me of the scheduled assignment. I quickly reach into my pocket and press a button on the side, stopping the vibrations. Sweat drips down my brow, thin white tee-shirt clinging to my tired body. A large cluster of platforms lay behind me, propped against walls, stacked upon finished hardwood flooring. As a member of the crew for this play, it's my job to run the lights, sounds, and- on occasion- move hefty platforms. I pull out a piece of paper and begin to jot down notes in order to report later.

4:14 PM. I finally finish moving the wooden platforms into the storage room. My co-worker, Jack, plops down beside me and hands me a can of Dr. Pepper. Popping the tab I take a long swig, deciding a break has been earned.

4:39 PM. The producer calls me into the seating area and asks my opinion about the placing of props in order to reduce conflictions between lighting cues. I recommend he move the enitre set forward about three feet, in order to make the spots more prominent and wash more thorough.

4:41 PM. Jack and I begin moving all the furniture and platforms forward as I recommended. I almost regret making the suggestion in the first place, considering that one of the props is a four-hundred pound metal tower. The cast takes their second break.

5:28 PM. We finish moving the set. I head up to the light and sound booth above the seats and begin synchronizing the light and sound settings for a musical number.

5:35 PM. The cast returns, and the director begins a full run-through. I load sound and light cues. My job, when stripped down to it's bare, consists of a single motion of the finger- the tapping of a button.

6:53 PM. After several stops, the full run-through ends. The actors are sent home and the stage crew arrives to strike the stage. I shut down the lightboard and soundboard and turn off all the monitors before leaving the sound-booth, locking it behind me.

7:04 PM. Several of my co-workers and I leave towards The Apple Pan, a great burger place for dinner. We all drive individual cars, despite the rising gas costs. I offer Jack a ride to and fro if he pays for my meal, but he declines with a "dream on".

7:16 PM. We arrive at The Apple Pan. We are seated immediately at a "U" shaped bar. I order a steakburger and Dr. Pepper.

7:23 PM. I'm hungry.

7:45 PM. Our food arrives. Feeding frenzy.

8:14 PM. I give salutations to my co-workers and head home. The drive is calm; the roads are suprisingly clear. I stop by on my way to grab a container of antacid tablets, just in case.

8:39 PM. I arrive home, retiring to my room to fool around on the guitar.

9:00 PM. My cell vibrates once more, signaling the end of my perception assignment.

--

Cheers,

Eli Langship<div There was a large misunderstanding that resulted in the delay of a very few amount of applications. Yours was, unfortunately, one of them. Harriet Moore has been notified of the problem herself, she wanted me to assure you that this will not happen again. I hope you will continue with your application and complete the attached perception assessment to the best of your abilities. I will now act as your regional director unless other circumstances arise.

Warm Regards,
Jeff Seifer
Regional Director
West Coast USA - Beta</elangship>

I knew they still loved me!

The "perception assesment" they sent I won't post word-for-word because I'd hate to reveal some secret or something, but it basically says to record everything that occurs in a five-hour period.

Sounds interesting. I'll send an e-mail back to this Jeff Seifer fellow, asking if I can post the assesment in it's entiriety, and if I can post the finished assignment once I'm done.

I feel giddy.

-grin-

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://eliarchives.blogspot.com/2006/08/aha-jubilation.html' title='Aha! We apologize in advance for the potentially intrusive nature of these checks and assure you that Neurocam International only undertakes this course of action in the
interest of protecting our propriety operational procedures. Any information gathered from this historical evaluation will be treated as strictly confidential.

If your application passes successfully through this stage of the application process, you will be contacted again soon.

An unsuccessful application will result in the cessation of all further correspondence between Neurocam and yourself.

Neurocam appreciates that, in 87.1% of instances, new applicants experience a desire to enquire about many issues which may further enlighten them as to the true nature of Neurocam. Those inquisitive enough to find value in all sorts of facets of life.
<eli>Eli: I feel on my toes when you talk.. trying to pick out hidden meanings.
Elhorranna: feel like nerves in your body, or feel... like picking and suckling?
Elhorranna: that's kind of weird.. but OK.
</eli></elhorranna></elhorranna></elhorranna></elhorranna>

She's a funny one.

Now, to reply to Jason's e-mail and hit the hay.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://eliarchives.blogspot.com/2006/07/hark-herald-angels-sing.html' title='Hark! Hence why I didn't link to them.

I've been monitoring the Neuroboards for about a month now. They're pretty bulky, and reading them takes time, especially with the play in full production mode. They were good in the mid-Phase One era, but now they've turned into a pile of spam and dillusions.

TITAN Agents? Hah.

Snooper and Blabber? Pfft.

Black Magick? Operation Voudon? Blah, blah, blah.

Any of you fellow Phase Two operatives, I can only give you this advice: Take everything you are told with a grain of salt. Figure things out for yourself. Make your own conclusions. Use proper judgement. Don't let yourself be spoonfed bullshit.

Still recieved nothing from NCI, but according to Mr. Tremonti, that's to be expected.

I hate it when I procrastinate. Better get to that chunk of script I don't have down.

Ugh.

The Waiting Game

So it's been four days since I sent my application in.

Still recieved nothing.

Neurocam has drawn me in. I can feel it's tendrils creeping around my body, tieing me up, anxious to pull the string and suck me in for good. I've noticed my sleeping habits change, much to the dismay of my boss at CompUSA.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE I DIE:

1. Burn down CompUSA.
2. Have sex with Liv Tyler.

Late nights invariably lead to researching Neurocam. I've probably absorbed three years of information in the last four nights. I've read through the entiriety of Graham Henstock's blog, the UnFiction Thread, the disorganized, unconclusive WikiPedia entry, tried to make sense of Xade's blog.. I could go on. I've also apparently met a fellow operative, and this one seems to be active and already in the NCI loop.

I've sent an e-mail his way. Let's see if I could get an affiliate in this mystery.

Nothing left to do but smoke a cigarette and wait for that Inbox to fill up. The anticipation is killing me.

Eight o' clock comes early.

Neurocam, Neurocam, Neurocam.

The topic of discussion on ARG sites, internet phenomena forums, chat rooms, news agencies. It's illusive, secretive. It poses as a dark, black void of information, secrets. Yet no one can quite get to the center of it all, gracing only the edge.

I am to grace more than just the edge.

1. Current occupation

A majority of my time I act at a small playhouse as an actor, but I get most of my money from a job at CompUSA.

6. What do you think Neurocam is?

I think that Neurocam is whatever you want it to be. Neurocam is shapeless, formless. It's not tied to one person, not that you could pin anyone down, if you wanted. It's illusive, mysterious. It is exactly what you expect, yet nothing you could ever imagine.

7. How did you hear about Neurocam?

I read about Neurocam via the Neurocam article on Wikipedia, and further researched it on several webforums.

8. Include details on what you have to offer Neurocam International (minimum 250 words)

It's difficult to tell what I have to offer Neurocam when I do not know what Neurocam requires. However, since I do have many good qualities and skills, I'll go ahead and list them off. I'm a good actor, which I'm sure could be useful in certain occasions. I can very quickly create a character from scratch in my head, from body language down to accents and personality. I'm also a very persuasive liar, like most people in Los Angeles are.

I am very skilled musically. I play both the piano and guitar, though I've played the piano longer than I have the guitar. I am very accomplished at both, but not near as good as the greats in rock history. I am well knowledged in rock culture as well. I consider myself gifted creative-wise. I am also a good writer, though I haven't put any serious thought into becoming published.

I am dependable, and quite hard-headed, so usually if I'm asked to do something, it gets done. I'm also very anal when it comes to the details. Altogether I consider myself honest, hardworking, and trustworthy.

                       9. Do you instinctively turn right or left?

Not that I've really ever thought about it, but I suppose right.
